This workshop teaches the basics of work zone traffic control. The course covers short-term operations (no longer than one work shift) and focuses on daytime activities. This course grants the NCDOT Work Zone Installer certification. This certification lasts 4 years, after which the class must be taken again.
This course must be completed before taking Intermediate Work Zone Safety Training. The Basic and Intermediate classes do NOT provide NCDOT work zone supervisor certification: participants will need to complete the three-day Work Zone Traffic Control Supervisor Course.
