  • 05 PAVEMENT MARKING AND DELINEATION PLANS

  • 5.2 Plan Elements

  • To assist with review and construction, all NCDOT Pavement Marking Plans shall contain the same information, in the same format, whether they are produced by the NCDOT SDU, a Division, a Municipality, or a PEF.  The Signing Plan and Pavement Marking Plan should be separated on all projects.  Any deviation will require NCDOT approval.  The general elements of a pavement marking plan are as follows and shall appear in this order in all plan sets if required:

    • Title Sheet
    • Key Sheet (optional, include for urban/ complex projects)
    • Revised Roadway Standard Drawings
    • Pavement Marking Schedule
    • Pavement Marking Plan Sheets

    Page Numbering/Lettering

All sheets for a Pavement Marking Plan should use the “PMP-“prefix.  The sheet numbering should use the following format:

    • PMP-1: Title Sheet, Key Sheet, Revised Roadway Standard Drawings
    • PMP-2: Detail Sheets
    • PMP-3: Pavement Marking Plan Sheets

If certain elements are not required, the next element shall use the number of the element that is not used.

Example: If Detail Sheets and Revised Roadway Standard Drawings are not required, then the Pavement Marking Plan Sheets shall begin on PMP-2.

If additional sheets are needed for PMP-1, 2, and 3, letters shall be used for any additional sheets.  If additional letters beyond “Z" are needed, double and triple letters shall be used.

Examples: PMP-2 is followed by PMP-2A.  PMP-2Z is followed by PMP-2AA.
