  • 5.12 Yield Bars (Lines)

  • ​Yield Bars shall be used to indicate the point behind which vehicles are required to yield in compliance with a Yield sign (R1-2) or a Yield Here to Pedestrians (R1-5 series) sign.  Yield bars shall not be used without an accompanying traffic control device, i.e. a Yield Sign or a Yield Here to Pedestrians sign.

    For channelized right turns requiring a crosswalk, if the yield bar is past the crosswalk, verify that appropriate spacing is provided in accordance with MUTCD between the crosswalk and the yield bar.  If not, the yield bar and yield sign shall be in front of the crosswalk.
