• 05 PAVEMENT MARKING AND DELINEATION PLANS

  • 5.16 Lane and Paved Shoulder Widths

  • All lane widths and all changes in typical lane width shall be labeled on the Pavement Marking Plan Sheets.  Consult the roadway typical sections and the roadway plan sheets to verify the proposed lane widths.  Contact the managing unit regarding any discrepancies in lane widths.

For projects with a consistent lane width, the following note can be added to each plan sheet “NOTE: ALL LANE WIDTHS ARE XX' UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN."  The presence of this note omits the requirement of labeling all XX' lane widths.  Only one lane width per plan set can be identified in this manner.  All other lane widths shall be shown in the appropriate locations.

Shoulder width labels are not required unless the shoulder width varies and the label is critical to accurate placement of the edge line.

Lane and shoulder widths CAD shall be active within the individual Pavement Marking Plan Sheets CAD files.
