• 05 PAVEMENT MARKING AND DELINEATION PLANS

  • 5.18 Delineators

  • Delineators are beneficial at locations where the alignment might be confusing or unexpected, such as curves or unlit interchanges.  Delineators are considered guidance devices rather than warning devices.

    Guardrail and Barrier Delineations

Delineators that are affixed to guardrail and barriers, including barrier for bridges and sound walls are not required to be shown on the Pavement Marking Plan Sheets.  For projects with guardrail and/or barrier, list the applicable RSD on the Pavement Marking Plan Title Sheet.  Quantities are not required for Guardrail and Barrier Delineators.

    Flexible Delineators

Flexible delineators are vertical posts used to indicate a change in roadway alignment at unlit service and system interchanges.  Other locations for flexible delineators may be required per Division request.  Flexible delineators are not required to be shown on the Pavement Marking Plan Sheets.  For projects with unlit interchanges, list the applicable RSD on the Pavement Marking Plan Title Sheet.  Quantities are required for Flexible Delineators.
