The Multimodal Innovation Challenge seeks to solicit innovative ideas from all NCDOT employees for improving the multimodal divisions’ operations, procedures, customer service, etc. Goals of the effort include driving a culture of innovation, increasing employee engagement as well as job satisfaction and developing future NCDOT leaders.
The campaign for collecting ideas runs from Jan. 9 through March 8, 2019. The kickoff coincides with the start of NCDOT’s two-day North Carolina Transportation Summit, which focuses on emerging technologies, funding issues and other challenges of the future for transportation.
Ideas could be related to (but not limited to):
  • Procedures
  • Policies
  • Customer service
  • Partnerships
  • Workplace environment
  • Employee morale
This is your chance to provide your ideas to improve where you work and how your job is performed. Winners will receive a reward to recognize their great ideas.
Ideas can be submitted anonymously, but if your idea is chosen, you will not get credit.
The Innovation Challenge Committee will evaluate and select the ideas for adoption, then celebrate the results of the campaign in 2019.
Winning ideas will be announced in summer 2019.
Once winning ideas are announced, the Innovation Challenge Committee will make a formal recommendation to the applicable division manager for implementation. The employee who submits the winning idea will be invited to assist in the implementation process but may choose to opt out.
