• North Carolina Identity Management (NCID) Department Requirements:

External users accessing DOT websites are required to log in to the MyNCID Portal once every 15 months to keep their NCID account active.

Your NCID account has been deleted due to 15 months of inactivity and can no longer be recovered.

To regain access to the Permits site and your submissions, follow all the steps below:

Step 1: New NCID

Create a new NCID, by clicking myncid.nc.gov

  1. Create a new username, use format: First Initial Middle Initial Last Name (ex: Jack R Smith = jrsmith) Using company names as usernames is no longer accepted.
  2. Create a password.

Note: You will need to request access to other websites you were accessing with the old NCID.

Step 2: Permits Access

Locate the form to request Permit site access for the new NCID, by clicking Permits Help.

  1. Complete the Request Permits Access form with your new NCID details.
  2. After receiving the access granted email, click on myncid.nc.gov to update the password again. Use Forgot Password.

Note: Contact encr@ncdot.gov for a status only after 3 business days if an email has not been received. Requests are processed in the order that they are received.

Step 3: Permits Login

Access the Permits Site by clicking Permits Help.

    1. Click the Permits Login button.
    2. Type NCID\ before your username: NCID\yourusername
    3. Type your updated NCID password.

Important: Prevent future access interruptions by setting a yearly recurring calendar reminder to log into myncid.nc.gov 1 year from today (or before reaching the 15 month deadline).

If this is not done prior to the 15 month deadline your NCID will be deleted, and you will be required to go through this entire process again.
