Stakeholder Outreach

Coordination with various stakeholders is required throughout the development of the state freight plan.

Stakeholders include the Freight Advisory Committee and Metropolitan and Rural Planning Organizations:

• MPOs and RPOs: NCDOT is developing the Statewide Freight Plan in coordination with its urban and rural planning partners.  NCDOT will conduct two rounds of coordination meetings with the MPOs and RPOs – one during the development of the freight network assessment and a second to screen strategies and recommendations. 

NCDOT will conduct a series of interviews and surveys with the state's private sector freight stakeholders.  This includes freight carriers, shippers, logistics service providers, facility operators, industry groups, economic development agencies and other stakeholders.

The N.C. Department of Transportation is updating the Statewide Multimodal Freight Plan and would like your help identifying issues and future opportunities with freight movement in North Carolina. Your input will help guide the Freight Plan Update and identify ways that NCDOT can support efficient and effective movement of freight. Public Freight Forums​ 

The N.C. Department of Transportation is hosted two forums to gather input on freight needs and challenges in North Carolina. Your participation will be used to help inform the Multimodal Freight Plan Update and identify ways that NCDOT can support the movement of freight more efficiently and effectively. Both meetings presented the same information and address the Statewide Multimodal Freight System. If you were unable to attend, the videos are available.
