​A major component of the Highway Stormwater Program is managing the Department’s compliance with its state-wide NPDES Stormwater permit (NCS000250). This permit authorizes NCDOT to discharge borrow pit wastewater and stormwater from its construction activities, ferry terminals, material storage facilities, office buildings, rest areas, along with general roadway and railway drainage. The Highway Stormwater Program implements a number of programs (listed below) to ensure that these authorized discharges are appropriately managed to protect NC’s lakes, rivers, streams, and estuaries.

 
Summary

​HSP produces a report annually that includes project information and pictures covering each of the major program areas.  The annual reports for every year since 2005 are provided below. (the current permit is in a separate section above)
