Issue

Numerous "Bugholes" were noted at various locations in the bridge deck.

Action Item

Construction and Structures Management recommended filling "Bugholes" larger than ¼" x ¼" with approved grout. No action required on smaller holes.

Issue

After diamond grinding the deck, portions of the deck are not within the tolerances for rideability.

Action Item

Construction and Structures Management recommended additional grinding if rebar cover is sufficient. If there is insufficient cover Class II repairs may be required. After all repairs are made and if rebar cover is acceptable the deck may be sealed otherwise an overlay may be required.

Structures Management will investigate deck cracking and sealing criteria used in neighboring states and will investigate developing a guide specification.
