Issue

Prestressing strands in the prestressed end bent and bent caps were cut flush with the ends of the cap segments per the standard details.  It was noted this detail does not protect the strands from possible corrosion and the suggestion was made to provide a recess which could be grouted.

Action Item

Structures Management will investigate detailing recesses for prestressing strands in the ends of prestressed end bent and bent cap segments.

 

Issue

Adequate concrete cover for barrier rail "S" bars was difficult to maintain because of variations in bending of the bars.

Action Item

Structures Management will review barrier bar details and revise if necessary.
