Structures Field Review Site 06 2010	Wayne,	New bridges on Goldsboro Bypass between US117 and SR 1556
~ Contractor chose to construct a wire basket fabric wall in lieu of the reinforced bridge approach fill. ~ Contractors usually do not place crane loads on the fabric walls. ~ It was suggested that Structure Design and Geotechnical Engineering detail the fabric wall on all integral abutment bridges. A/I ~ Structure will bring up the fabric wall for discussion at the next Joint AGC-DOT Bridge Design Committee to determine Contractors' preference on integral abutment bridge approach fill.
~ 16 bridges and 1 culvert ~ Structure #5 is a curved steel girder with an integral bent. ~ Structures #3 and #4 are curved steel girders.
