    Attention:

    Holiday Restrictions

No travel for overwidth, overheight or overlength permitted vehicle/vehicle combinations or vehicle combinations with a gross weight exceeding 112,000 lbs will be authorized on North Carolina highways from noon Friday, July 3, 2026 until noon Monday, July 6, 2026.

    Continuous Travel Qualifications Update

Continuous travel (24 hr / 7 day / 365 days a year) is authorized for any vehicle/vehicle combination up to but not to exceed a permitted gross weight of 112,000 lbs. and up to 10' wide provided the permitted vehicle has no other over legal dimension of height or length included in the permitted move.

When operating between sunset and sunrise, any vehicle transporting a load with a width greater than 102 inches and up to 120 inches must be equipped with no fewer than two operable amber lamps, positioned at the load's widest points, to ensure the load's dimensions are clearly indicated and visible from both directions of travel.

    Credit Card Vendor Change

The North Carolina PIMS application changed credit card processors on Monday, June 1, 2026. The current credit card processor allows customers to register credit cards with the service, so the credit card numbers are not required at purchase time. The new processor will also present this ability. However, it is not possible to transfer credit cards from the old processor to the new one. Customers who wish to register a credit card must do so with the new processor after it goes online.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the NCDOT Oversize/Overweight Permit Unit at: 1-888-574-6683 (option 4)
