NCDOT Division of Aviation is pleased to establish an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Planning Grant Program. AAM helps emerging aviation markets safely develop a system that transports people and cargo between places currently not served or underserved by aviation. This program, anticipated to be awarded annually, helps strengthen North Carolina by funding local planning initiatives that support statewide AAM planning goals.

Division of Aviation can provide guidance to local agencies on key considerations related to AAM including infrastructure development, partnership facilitation, community outreach and engagement, economic development, and policy alignment. With a total of $1 million allocated in 2024 to be awarded, municipalities and regional planning organizations can develop AAM plans or enhance existing multimodal plans tailored to their unique community needs.

Please see the Overview Document and the Application for details and procedure. Applications are due Friday November 8th, 2024. The Division of Aviation strives to further collaborate with our planning partners on keeping aviation innovation advancing in North Carolina so that we remain “Forever First in Flight”!
