  • Overview

  •

The Regional Laboratories Group is comprised of 7 laboratory groups logistically spread across the state that perform laboratory testing for Soils, Aggregates, Asphalt, Concrete, and other materials.  The former Division Asphalt Quality Assurance Laboratories have been combined with the nearest Regional laboratories and are now a part of the Materials and Tests Regional Laboratories Group.  Laboratories receive samples from field inspectors, contractors, manufacturers, producers, and other laboratories within the Unit for testing.  These facilities also provide testing supplies such as Isopropyl Alcohol, Test Forms/Cards, Chace Indicators, RFID Tags, Ear Tags, etc…  The laboratories have the responsibility for testing and providing data for ensuring that the acceptance criteria are met and those products will function as intended.  The Regional Laboratories Group strives to provide quality services to the Department of Transportation, other State agencies, municipalities, producers and suppliers that do business with the State of North Carolina in the areas of testing, specifications, technical expertise, innovation and research.
