The Municipal Bridge Program provides federal aid funds for bridges that are located on municipal streets and are not part of the state highway system. Bridge projects are funded using 80% Federal-Aid funds with 20% matching Municipal funds required.
Recent legislative changes by Congress included elimination of the Highway Bridge Program. Changes in Federal core program funding and eligibility are being reviewed to determine their impact on the Municipal Bridge Program. Programming of new municipal bridge projects has been suspended pending further guidance.
