    The Brunswick County Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) is a long-range plan, which identifies major transportation improvement needs and develops long term solutions for the next 25 to 30 years. The study is a joint effort with Brunswick County, Brunswick County Municipalities, the North Carolina Department of Transportation –Transportation Planning Division (NCDOT TPD), Grand Strands Area Transportation Study Metropolitan Planning Organization (GSATS MPO) and the Cape Fear Rural Planning Organization (CFRPO). The CTP study involves both government officials and the public to determine the area’s future transportation needs based on the best information available including, but not limited to, population, economic conditions, traffic trends and patterns of land development in the county. The study will also include multimodal forms of transportation (bicycle, pedestrian, and public transportation). The plan was adopted by Brunswick County on March 4, 2024, the Grand Strand MPO on February 16, 2024, Bald Head Island on March 15, 2024, City of Boiling Spring Lakes on April 2, 2024, Bolivia on March 12, 2024, Caswell Beach on February 8, 2024, Northwest on March 26, 2024, Oak Island on February 14, 2024, Sandy Creek on March 11, 2024, Southport on February 5, 2024, St. James on February 7, 2024, endorsed by the Cape Fear RPO on March 15, 2024 and adopted by the North Carolina Department of Transportation Board of Transportation on May 1, 2024.
