The Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) is a multimodal transportation plan. During the CTP process, the area’s future transportation needs are determined, and recommendations are provided for a 25-30 year timeframe. This plan is a joint effort between the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The process involved local government officials, planning staff, and the public. The CTP was last mutually adopted by the North Carolina Board of Transportation on August 3, 2017. ***The DCHC MPO Board adopted CTP Amendment #1 on September 12, 2018, Amendment #2 on December 9, 2020 and Amendment #4 on March 9, 2022. Amendment #3 was deferred.  NCDOT adopted Amendment #4 in April 2022. See the Maps tab and the Reports tab for details.*** It is currently under study, and more information will be posted here as it becomes available.
