In April 2016 representatives from Harnett County and its municipalities requested that the Mid-Carolina Rural Planning Organization (RPO) and NCDOT Transportation Planning Branch (TPB) amend the existing 2011 Harnett County Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP). The amendment process is a cooperative planning effort between Harnett County, the municipalities of Angier, Coats, Dunn, Erwin and Lillington, Campbell University, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), Fayetteville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO), Mid-Carolina RPO and NCDOT TPB. An amendment provides additional projects to the current CTP (2011). An Amendment to The Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) has been developed for Harnett County. The CTP Amendment was adopted by Harnett County (02/20/2017), Town of Coats (12/08/2016), City of Dunn (12/13/2016), Town of Erwin (02/02/2017), Town of Lillington (01/10/2017), Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) (03/15/2017), Fayetteville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) (01/25/2017) and North Carolina Department of Transportation (04/06/2017). The CTP Amendment was endorsed by the Mid-Carolina Rural Planning Organization (MCRPO) (01/25/2017) and Town of Angier (01/03/2017).
