The Transportation Planning Division (TPD) at NCDOT focuses on long range planning, advanced travel demand modeling, and traffic forecasting to support the development of North Carolina transportation systems. This work is guided by an updated Strategic Plan (May 2025) that outlines key goals, objectives and actions to help TPD work closely with Metropolitan and Rural Planning Organizations (MPOs/RPOs) to advance future mobility in communities and regions across NC.
